2 tablespoons olive oil 1 yellow onion, chopped 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced 3 cloves garlic, minced 2 pounds ground beef 2 tablespoons chili powder 1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 bay leaf One 5-ounce can tomato paste One 28-ounce can diced tomatoes One 16-ounce can kidney beans, drained and rinsed 1 tablespoon white vinegar
